PR Goals

Cactus Collective Weddings is a Las Vegas-based micro-wedding, elopement and destination wedding company offering all-inclusive intimate wedding packages in some of southern Nevada’s most picturesque natural locations. The company also offers seasonal wedding packages in San Diego, California and Black Hills, South Dakota.

Cactus Collective Weddings’ main goal was to gain overall brand elevation and recognition through top tier media coverage, and to define and elevate micro-weddings. Their secondary goals were to announce the additions of their two new locations in San Diego and Black Hills, and to announce the launch of their second wedding brand for nonconventional couples, Electric Sugar Elopements.

PR and Media Strategies

Our strategy was to make journalists and media outlets aware of the concept of a micro-wedding, a convergence of elopements, destination weddings and more traditional weddings. We wanted to coin the term “micro-wedding” put its definition into the cultural zeitgeist, and establish Cactus Collective Weddings as a leader and innovator in the space. We presented a path towards nuptials that include stunning natural backdrops, top photography, romance, attention to detail and many of the bells and whistles of larger weddings, but on a more affordable and more intimate scale.

Our Challenge

Our challenges existed on many fronts, and ultimately enabled us to propel the PR campaign forward. We had to put the concept of a micro-wedding into the media and public zeitgeist to help people to better understand the gap CCW filled in the wedding marketplace. We also had to navigate 2020 and 2021 through the pandemic when couples, along with the wedding industry were reeling from all of the confusion and fear related to social distancing and Covid-19 as it pertained to planning weddings.

We pitched Cactus Collective Weddings to regional media as a safer alternative to traditional weddings during 2020, and early 2021 as a safer alternative to large traditional weddings, and we pitched the outdoor natural locations as a beautiful way to adhere to social distancing with exclusive access to specific outdoor venues. Additionally, we pitched national media with CCW owner, McKenzi Taylor as a micro-weddings expert who could explain how to navigate those challenging times successfully, which resulted in an influx of couples who were forced to cancel their original weddings plans, booking outdoor micro-weddings with Cactus Collective Weddings at the helm.

Once the world opened back up again for business and social distancing and masks were no longer a concern, we helped CCW re-position their messaging towards financial affordability, environmental sustainability, and their unique access to some of Las Vegas’, San Diego’s and Black Hills’ most visually breathtaking venues. We also helped with their launch of Electric Sugar Elopements which caters to alternative/less traditional couples and weddings.

Our Results

We ran an extremely successful PR campaign which resulted in prominent media coverage with Bridal Guide Magazine, Brides Magazine and Brides.com, Th New York Times, The Daily Mail, National Fox News, KTLA,  Scary Mommy, Green Wedding Shoes, The List, Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Knot, Bloomberg, Houston Chronicle, and ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX news affiliates in markets throughout the United States.
